I am a new player and am curious as to why the trumpet seems to be overshadowed by the saxophone in modern rock, pop and soul music. Songs by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Bob Seger, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen (just to name a few) occasionally feature saxophone solos. Where in these different genres of music can trumpet be found out front?
